Ultrasound & Scans

Ultrasound scans are used in general practice to examine the size and structure of organs in a non-invasive manner. Until relatively recently vets and doctors had to rely on clinical examination such as palpating and listening to the animal’s abdomen, along with exploratory surgery to assess what was happening inside their patients.

In the modern day however, ultrasound machines are readily available and at Craig Robinson Vets we have a reliable and clear scanner to help us diagnose and evaluate the progress of animal disease. Ultrasound scans are particularly useful for diagnosing illnesses of the abdominal organs (such as the bladder, kidneys, prostate and liver) and for examining the heart.

Sections of your pet’s fur may need to be shaved away and sedation administered to allow a thorough examination.
