X-rays

Radiography (x-rays) is a way of looking at what is happening inside your pet. X-rays allow us to look at bones, joints and some soft tissue structures.

Orthopaedic problems that can be diagnosed with x-rays include: fractures, osteoarthritis, dislocations, some spinal problems and bone cancer.

Some soft tissue conditions can also be diagnosed with x-rays including: heart enlargement, chest or lung conditions, tumours, “foreign bodies” in the bowel, kidney disease and constipation.

We usually need to anaesthetise your pet to make sure we get good, diagnostic images with the minimum number of exposures and without us needing to be in the room with them.

X-rays are quite safe for you pet.
